UTStarcom to Participate in VoIP Panel Discussion at 2003 Fall Von Show

David Howard Will Address the Future of Voice-over-Broadband Service

David Howard, product line manager for broadband products at UTStarcom (Nasdaq: UTSI) -- the worldwide leader in IP-DSLAMS -- will participate in the "Voice over Broadband Service Providers" session at the Fall 2003 VON Conference & Expo in Boston. During the panel, Howard will talk about UTStarcom's role in the success of Yahoo! BB's voice-over-IP (VoIP) service, BB Phone. The session will take place on Wednesday, September 24 from 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EDT.

As part of the panel, Howard will join moderator Jean-Francois Mule of CableLabs, as well as other panel members from Bell Canada, Vonage, and B2 Bredband AB to discuss perspectives and visions for VoIP service in the future.

As the manager of wireline solutions, Howard oversees the marketing and development of all wireline access products at UTStarcom, including the multi- service access node, DSLAM, VoIP gateway, and broadband RAS solutions. He has more than 15 years of industry expertise in telephony, data networking, voice and data access, and fiber optic transmission with companies such as Phaethon Communications, Inc., Alcatel, Assured Access Technologies, Ascend Communications, Bell Canada, and Environment Canada.
